What is Choirs GO POP?

Choirs GO POP is an all-day festival founded by GO POP CIC. A social enterprise dedicated to attracting a younger and more diverse demographic to choirs all across the country.

Our first festival in 2019, known as West Yorkshire Choirs Pop Festival, was such a success that we knew we had to make the next one bigger and better so that more choirs could participate,  perform and develop in a fun and supportive environment.

Making Choirs Cool

Thanks to grant funding from the local Wakefield authority and the Arts Council England, our 2022 festival will set the stage for Choirs GO POP to become one of the highlights on the Choral calendar.

We plan, in future years, to hold GO POP festivals up and down the country. Making choirs cool again with our contemporary twist and getting everyone on their feet singing together!
Choirs GO POP 2022
Join us on Sunday 12th June 11 am at the Theatre Royal Wakefield in West Yorkshire.
Choirs from across England will participate in three pop-inspired workshops. Perform three prepared songs for our panel of industry experts, then sing in our evening choral extravaganza. We're going to raise the roof!
I'm Not in a Choir, Can I Attend?
YES. If you love to sing, we'd love to have you there. If you're not a member of a choir, but would love to find out what it's all about, attend the morning choir workshops and stay all day to enjoy the afternoon and evening performances. Book your ticket.
Calling All Choirs
Brand new choirs, classical choirs, children's choirs, gospel, pop, show choirs - you are all welcome to come along for an unforgettable day of learning and singing together. You can choose to perform acapella, with a piano accompaniment or backing track.
Panel Performances
Sing with your choir for industry experts and receive helpful feedback so you can all grow in confidence and become even better performers. Your fellow GO POP choirs will be cheering you on as we inspire each other with how beautifully diverse and moving choral singing truly is.

Who is Jenna Fan?

Jenna Fan, Director of GO POP CIC, started the Local Vocals pop choir in Ossett in 2017 to get more people singing, regardless of background and musical experience. A classical pianist, Jenna has been involved in choirs either as a singer or accompanist throughout her life. She started singing more seriously in 2009 when she joined a choral society. Noticing that choir members tended to be older, Jenna wanted to encourage more diversity and younger people to join choirs and start singing. Thus reaping the well-being benefits of community singing.

Jenna enjoys weekly choir rehearsals with her pop choir and other community choirs and singing projects alongside teaching at her Fanfare Music studio. She is passionate about self-esteem and loves seeing people of all ages grow in confidence through musical activities.
